Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about how TaskCircle works, payments, fees, and safety.

What is TaskCircle?

TaskCircle is a community-based local job marketplace. Trusted organizations like schools, churches, and neighborhood groups create private communities where members can post and claim local jobs — from errands and moving help to one-off gigs. You join with a code from your community administrator.

How does posting and claiming a job work?

Posters create a job listing with a title, description, category, location, and budget. The listing is visible to other members of the same community.

Workers browse open jobs and claim ones they want to do. Once claimed, the job moves through a lifecycle: open → claimed → in progress → completed. The poster marks the job complete when the work is done.

How do payments work?

Payments are handled through Stripe Connect. Posters save a payment method to their account. When a worker claims a job, the full budget is authorized (held) on the poster's card — no money moves yet.

When the poster marks the job complete, the payment is captured and the worker's share is automatically transferred to their connected Stripe account. If the job is cancelled, the hold is released and no charge occurs.

What is the platform fee?

TaskCircle charges a 5% service fee on each job, deducted automatically at payment time. The worker receives 95% of the posted budget. Some community organizations may negotiate a different fee rate — including 0% for fee-free communities. You'll see the exact breakdown when creating a job.

Can minors use TaskCircle?

Yes, users aged 14–17 can use TaskCircle with parental or guardian consent. During signup, minors must confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed the registration and consents to their participation. The parent accepts responsibility for overseeing the minor's activity.

Users aged 14–17 must also acknowledge that they may need working papers or an employment certificate to legally accept paid work in their jurisdiction. TaskCircle does not verify working papers — that responsibility falls on the minor and their parent or guardian. See our Terms of Service for the full policy.

What happens if something goes wrong with a job?

If a job is cancelled before completion, the payment authorization is voided and no charge occurs. Workers can unclaim a job if it's more than 12 hours before the scheduled time.

For disputes, misconduct, theft, or safety concerns, contact our safety team. When a report is filed, the accused user's account is immediately suspended pending review. TaskCircle reviews the report and refers the incident to the relevant community administrator. See our Trust & Safety page for full details on the process.

How do I report a problem?

Email safety@taskcircle.com with details about the issue: the job in question, the other user involved, what happened, and any supporting evidence (screenshots, photos). You can also use the in-app messaging system to document the issue first.

We aim to respond to all safety reports within 24 hours. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (911).

Is TaskCircle an employer?

No. TaskCircle is a marketplace platform that connects job posters with independent workers. Workers operate as independent contractors — TaskCircle does not employ, supervise, or control how workers perform services. See our Terms of Service for details.

Can my account be suspended?

Yes. TaskCircle reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account for violations of our Terms, reports of misconduct, or safety concerns. Suspended users cannot log in, claim jobs, post jobs, or send messages. If your account is suspended, you'll see a notice with contact information for appeals.
